File Transfer via SFTP
Introduction
It’s incredibly important that we look after data with great care, especially in transit!
Which is why we offer the ability to transfer data using the SSH File Transfer Protocol – our preferred method of transferring data securely. You may know this as “Secure File Transfer Protocol” or most simply, “SFTP”.
Anyone using this service will have access to their own secure directory and will be able to transfer data into and out of this directory only.
Users are required to use software capable of SFTP – we can help guide you on this, keep reading as there are some more details about SFTP software below.
Your Credentials
Below is the information you require to access your SFTP location:
Host | This will be confirmed separately, by your Account Manager |
---|---|
Port | This will be confirmed separately, by your Account Manager |
Protocol | SFTP – SSH File Transfer Protocol |
Logon Type | Normal |
User | This will be confirmed separately, by your Account Manager |
Password | This will be confirmed separately, by your Account Manager |
Once you’re all connected, data can be read from and written to the files sub-directory.
Data Storage Policy
This service is available for transferring data – it isn’t a storage facility!
It’s important to get in and get out as after five working days, data is automatically removed – this is for the protection of your data.
Account De-Activation Policy
If an account is in-active for 90 days or we’ve been notified that they aren’t needed any longer, the account will be de-activated.
SFTP Software
There are lots of different software solutions out there which are capable of SFTP, many of which are free, but we use and recommend Filezilla.
Below are a selection of free SFTP software solutions:
Filezilla | https://filezilla-project.org |
---|---|
Core FTP | http://www.coreftp.com |
WinSCP | https://winscp.net |
If you decide to use an alternative software solution, just make sure that it supports SFTP.
If needed, remember to consult your internal IT Department before downloading or installing any software!
Any questions? Get in touch with your Account Manager and they’ll do all they can to make it as easy and pain free as possible.
