Full Stack Developer

ESco is a publishing services bureau working for some of the UK’s most well-known publishers. We are an Investor in People company who look after our staff focusing on personal development and training. At a time of continued growth, we are seeking to employ a Full Stack Developer to assist with the creation and ongoing maintenance of in-house software and client solutions. This is an opportunity to be part of a vibrant team of people responding to the needs and challenges of the industry we serve whilst being supported within a structured environment.  There will also be opportunities to work with our 3rd party suppliers to support and develop software and websites.

Responsibilities…

  • Development of bespoke software applications and solutions for internal use and external clients from database structure and access, through to business layer logic and onto the UI
  • Ongoing maintenance and support of software
  • Working closely with internal depts and interpreting briefs to develop solutions
  • Writing analyses and reports
  • Regular contact with our publisher clients

Essential skills/experience…

  • Proven experience of full stack development
  • Experience of working with large, complex data sets
  • Web application development
  • ASP.NET/VB.NET
  • SQL Server 2012+
    • T-SQL
    • Stored Procedures
    • SQL Server Integration Services
    • SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Ability to understand business requirements and create software solutions that work within agreed technical designs; ability to suggest and develop improvements to current processes
  • Passionate about programming and web development, keeping up to date with changes in technology and best practices
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Natural self-starter
  • Able to communicate effectively, both in written and spoken word
  • Due to our rural location, own transport is necessary

Desirable but not essential…

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Experience of DevExpress control suite
  • Working knowledge of the Atlassian ecosystem

Hours…

  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Normal hours would be 8.30am to 5.30pm with one hour for lunch (except during busy periods when flexible hours will be required)
