A Retrospective Look

At ESco, our tech team has been embracing the practice of retro meetings, led by the ever-enthusiastic Retro Rob (as he is affectionately known by Team ESco), taking a retrospective look at the way we work together to improve delivery and efficiency.

These sessions allow our team a platform to celebrate successes, voice any concerns, and collectively brainstorm solutions. Through open dialogue and collective problem-solving, the balance has shifted in team morale since the retros began, with a greater emphasis on work wins and opportunities for growth.

During a recent Valentine's Day-themed retro session, our team were particularly feeling the love, with French music to set the mood, in classic Retro Rob style. To kickstart the session, each person was encouraged to write a Valentine’s Day card, sharing something that they love about working at ESco.

After the icebreaker, the team shared a positive aspect of their work experience (a rose) and a challenge or grievance (a thorn) from the last few weeks, as well as a promising opportunity on the horizon (a bud). Rob worked with our team to suggest ways in which they can take a proactive approach to these concerns, implement tangible solutions and nurture a culture of accountability and continued learning.

Retro Rob concluded yesterday’s meeting by asking the team what they’re going to do to give their future team some love, assigning action points to better their working processes and delegating responsibilities. In these sessions, we're reminded of the collective responsibility we share in driving our team forward. Through collaboration and shared vision, we're not just solving problems - we're shaping the future of ESco.

In the ever-evolving landscape of technology, it's easy to get caught up in the rush of deadlines and deliverables, but it's in these moments of reflection and connecting with each other that true progress is made. With Rob at the helm, our retro meetings have become a beacon of positivity and possibility, inspiring us to strive for excellence in all that we do.
