ESco builds for the future

Publishing services bureau ESco Business Services is keenly anticipating the opening of its new purpose-built premises, which Managing Director Susan Duffin believes will herald a new era for the company. For over 20 years, ESco has been based in Finchingfield in rural Essex, but over the last few years, growth has been restricted by limited space. However, after three years battling with their local planning department, construction of new offices and a 10,000 ft² warehouse is now well under way, allowing ESco to press ahead with plans for expansion. The building work is scheduled for completion in April 2006.

Although the new ESco head office represents a giant leap for the company, geographically, it’s a small step for mankind, less than two miles from its current location in Finchingfield. “Remaining in the locality allows us to retain continuity of our experienced staff whilst having the bonus of a new building and facilities. We’re in an attractive rural area, appealing to new staff, which is convenient for Stansted and the M11,” explains Susan.

During the construction period, ESco has geared up to a larger operation with a new corporate identity, a £50,000 investment in software, and a new website with a custom built web shop for their publishers’ subscribers.

ESco currently provides leading publishers with specialist subscriptions management, renewals production and fulfilment, covering several hundred consumer and business titles. It counts many blue chip companies among its publishing clients, as well as providing a host of further mailing services for a raft of other customers. ESco has grown organically over its history, and has established long relationships with most of its clients. “After building a firm foundation over the last twenty years, we’re now ready for controlled and sustainable growth over the next twenty years.” Susan adds.
